Beauty for Change Internship Program

The Beauty for Change Internship Program is where curiosity about beauty turns into real-world experience. We partner with local salons, spas, and beauty schools to place youth in supervised environments where they can see, feel, and understand what a day in this industry truly looks like.

This program is ideal for teens who have already explored basic skills or leadership in our other offerings and are ready to ask, "Is this really for me?" Instead of guessing, they step behind the scenes-observing services, assisting with safe, age-appropriate tasks, and learning the rhythm of a professional setting.

During the internship, participants learn:
- Salon and spa etiquette, from greeting clients to maintaining a clean workspace
- How professionals manage time, teamwork, and customer care
- The different roles within a beauty business-from front desk to stylist to owner
- What education, licensing, and ongoing training look like in real life

Each youth is supported by both a site supervisor and our nonprofit team, so they are not left to "figure it out" alone. We help them process what they're seeing, identify what excites them, and name what might not be a fit-all of which are valuable insights before investing in formal cosmetology school.

By the end of the program, interns walk away with:
- Clearer career direction and next steps
- Resume-building experience they can reference for jobs or applications
- Stronger professional confidence and communication
- A deeper understanding of how beauty can be a stable, respected career path
